The Founding of House Orinth

House History

swirly.gif

No one truly knows how the house Orinth was founded, some believed that the founder Orinther came from the north, on the back of a large dragon, other stories go that he was an powerful ayleid mage, trying to free the people his kind had enslaved for generations, having fallen in love with his Nedic servant. But my personal favorite, and i believe possibly the most plausible of all the stories out there, was that Orinther was the son of one of the slaves of an ayleid lord. He was the produce of an unwilling union between their lord and his Nedic mother.

The story goes that Orinther, gifted with magicka much like his illegitimate father, grew up with the other slaves within the household. Though he possessed an unbroken will and often dreamed of the free land his mother often told him  about where their ancestors used to hail from. Though forbidden, Orinther was known to sneak tomes from his master back into the slave’s quarters and learned in the darkest of night about the wielding of magicka, just like his master, and father, used to do.

But when his master found out his mother took the blame and the master killed her before the young breton. This filled Orinther with rage and he unleashed his magicka and killed his master. This resulted in a small rebellion within the Ayleid household and when the deed was done the entire estate was burning and the slaves were free.

Orinther took the road and a portion of the slaves walked with him in search of their homeland, thus started the pilgrimage of Orinth. After many years of traveling, Orinth Clan grew large and eventually reached High Rock and  encountered the Ayleids of the DIrenni clan occupying a large portion of High Rock. As was said that the clan Orinth rode in with horses and battled the Direnni clan but after the first battle, the old Orinther, got gravely injured and died on the battlefield.

Clan Orinth settled down in High Rock after the death of Orinther and his sons took over the role of leader and later it turned into a noble house we know today.

Occupation of “The vale”

The clan Orinth rode to their new home. But during this time the Vale was in the hands of the hedge mages and reachmen. Though due to Orinth’s ancestry in magicka and their well trained forces they managed to retake the valley in less than a year. It was told that in this time period, during the final battle of the field of Dragomear, several reachmages combined their magicka to summon a dragon to fight the forces. Looking back at it, it was quite possible that this dragon was a titan but the stories proclaim that is was Vilrant, son of Orinther, gave the killing blow and with is defeated the “wildmen” in the Vale.

Vilrant Orinth defeated the wildmen and claimed the vale, renaming the vale to Fergana valley, to his first wife, slain on the battlefield in their fight against the reachmages.

The city of dragonrock is said to be built upon the very spot where the dragon was slain by Vilrant, the dragonslayer. But whether or not there is any truth to this remains a mystery....

Celvys Orinth “Reach-Bane”

The heir of Orinth for most of his life he took the Orinth seat when the Reachmen killed his brother under the leadership of Merissa Skullweaver. His conquest of the north-south of the Mountains beyond the vale would be the cause of many songs as it happened with such brutal force no reachmen have been seen there since.

Torren Orinth “The Hawker”

Shortly after the Reachmen in the mountains to the North of Fergana united behind Helaena Sky-Guard, This Lord of the line of Orinther rallied the houses of Fergana against the foreign invaders, going as far as laying a short-lived Siege on Skyfall the seat of the Clan killing many.

Velisa Orinth “The conciliator”

Married the heir of Lord Domric Sky-guard  in the late First Era, Bringing peace to the north and legitimizing the House known as Skyguard into highrock.
