Chapter 10 - The Ambush

Visitors

One of the people close to the Regent Bazanov Matvy, however still loyal to his former captain, Maryelle Orinth, brought news in Dragonshield, that the Artifact is finally on the move for Kirkwall. Maryelle then decided to gather a group to go there in an effort to destroy the object of Fergana’s suffering once and for all. On their way there, while going through the forest, their endeavours brought to a halt when they were met with the sight of two figures standing on a top of a hill. Both of them clad in dark plate armor, like knights, adorning black as night velvets. It were the fabled Black Knight and the infamous Black Tower… Alone on top of the hill, none else was to be seen. But then with a sign of the Knight a barrage of arrows started to rain upon the Orinth forces as a group of enemy soldiers attacked.

Throughout the battle, the two Officers of the Blind God simply observed, not moving from their place. In the carnage, some of the enemy soldiers called out to Maryelle with their last dying breath, recognizing her even, revealing that they are but her former soldiers serving under her… After the Orinth soldiers under the leadership of Maryelle successfully fended off the first group of enemies, another far bigger started to approach them arose from where the previous stood, with arrows still raining down from the sky. Four more battle ready knights in plate armor started to appear behind the two figures.

The expetition met with unlikely allies.

Suddenly, a blasting sound like a giant’s hammer tempers steel on the hills of Fergana itself would be heard, hitting thrice, words would slither like a snake’s in an ancient tongue… Magical mist appearing on the battlefield, reducing the vision of everyone present. The arrow barrage halts, as now the chanting of steel swords clashing and souls screaming would herald the Black Knight’s flanks compromised, now victims to another pack of hunters set afoot.

The figure with the staff commanded The Tower to attack, as well as two of the knights behind them. The Tower cut through three Orinth Soldiers with ease, steel and flesh mangled ravaged and twisted with little distinction from each other… While the two lesser knights fell underneath the blade of Lady Maryelle and her companions, the former Orinth captain now came to face the Tower, staying true to the name given to him, standing two heads taller than she.

Arrival in Carnage

Suddenly from the mist, the clapping of hooves is heard as Aelius arrives on horseback, behind him the forces of the expedition leading a charge. His own claymore, cleaving through the mist, hissing a dire threat, slams into the Tower’s head, making the hulking giant fall on the ground senseless, even his head strong to withstand such a forceful blow.

At the same time, the trace of an aura was felt creeping… Like the ebb and flow of an ocean, tyranical oppressive, cold, yet hot giving the impression of it displacing and sucking the air itself… Faint crimson and gold, slowly ascends the hill, revealing a new being on the battlefield, a mage clad in silks and armor, hiding all but his eyes behind his visor. In an alien tongue at his command the earth opened and started swallowing the Black knight in place, trapping her there… Maryelle approaches, readying a final blow, thirsty for justice.

The knight’s words soothing her rage, as a familiar tone, hints to her true identity… Removing the knight’s helmet, red hair was seen under it, as her head is lifted, Maryelle’s eyes gleam with surprise at the revelation of the Black knight being her closest of friends and former leader of the Lore Office, Betz Sybelle and the tower being the khajiit Militant Do'Dazur , their minds now under the mercy of the Blind God…

Revelations

However more surprises awaited for her and the Orinths there, as the mage with the golden visage, heralded the dire new reality they face… Dragonrock has fallen… The Blind God triumphs…
